Late nights

My soul was never for sale, but I can't say the same about my integrity. In fact, the last time she asked me to lie, I hated it. I fumed for hours in my head, cursed the skies and everything about the situation and then told the truth in a way that made something that wasn't true seem less like a lie.

It's not enough to want to stand for something, it requires that you're willing to accept the consequences even when you're right. That's when it really hurts. The brief glory of rightness is almost immediately overwhelmed by the backlash from people who aren't used to hearing the truth.
You just called their baby ugly and there's no take backs.

It is freeing, but the world unprotected with white lies and contextual explanations is dangerous. And it's scary.

And it's the only you'll ever know what it feels like to really succeed.

Shoulder Shopping

Just wanted to let you guys know that there are wonderful things to find while working on the roadway.

I found the hitch pin by pure accident.  I got out of the truck to check a sign and stepped on it.  Whamo, nice hitch pin with clip!

The vise grips are a different story.  I spotted them with my keen eye going about 40 MPH.  I dove over to the shoulder, flipped on my blinky lights and waited for a few cars to go by.  I backed up about 100 feet and there they were, a nice set of vice grips.

It takes years of practice to develop an eye like mine.  Keep your eye open because you just never know what you'll find.

Do what it takes

It's not a matter of choice, it's if you're willing to do what it takes to survive. I live in fear each day of not making enough money to keep me fed because I chose not to pursue a salaried job that paid me regularly.

Because I don't have that tether, I'm better prepared to manage on my own, just like most of those migrant workers who used to work in the fields. They found something they were good at that someone would give them money based on and did it.

We all make choices. The people that thought they were safe, are not. The ones that live with a little healthy fear, are.

And why the hell wouldn't I work in the damn fields? That's damn noble work, helping feed the world. Hard to ever go home feeling bad about that.

Brian Clark's life story?

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.... very well, where do i begin?
My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery.
My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet.
My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.
My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe.
At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles.
There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Star Wars prequels

What if Darth Maul survived the first movie?

What if the Emperor ordered Darth Maul to kill the Jedi younglings, and Anakin tried to stop him, but was injured?

Then Obi Wan swooped in, killed Darth Maul, but in doing so, accidentally injured Padme?

Then Anakin freaks out, blames Obi Wan for what he thinks is Padme's death, but Obi Wan defeats him?

Padme dies, Anakin gets angry and the rest of the film goes on.

It's better.
